WWOOFing Experience!
Reviews!
We didn’t quite know how to react or act when opening our home to WWOOFing volunteers. Jesse and I are private and like to work on our garden. We weren’t quite sure how it would be to have random guest at our house. We have heard the good and the bad experiences from farmers with having people come to their house from all over the world to experience gardening and farming.
After breaking down and applying for WWOOF USA and WWOOF Hawaii websites to be host farms, the wheel already started turning. This was the best decision that we could have made. We made an honest description of ourselves and the responses that we received was unbelievable.
In three months of signing up to be WWOOFing host in March of 2013, we received over 200 emails from volunteers looking to WWOOF and learn with us at our little homestead. We were initially overwhelmed. With our first WWOOFer arriving June 2014, we certainly were in for a great learning experience.
We would like to thank all those who have came to help out at our homestead. Your hard work, sweat and dedication to helping provide chemical free food for the future is surely appreciated. Thanks again and until our paths cross again!

“Absolutely amazing place!!! Jesse and Laura are so incredibly friendly and excited to share their knowledge and experience! I learnt sooo much about permaculture in my week at No Spray, and the experience has completely changed the way I think about agriculture! Jesse and Laura were so great at making us feel at home. They worked along side us, were flexible about tasks and really wanted to learn from us as well. The tasks were varied and Jesse and Laura always made sure we knew why we were doing what we were doing! The wwoofer tent was perfect and the food was out of this world! They have 3 fantastic lovable dogs – definitely a highlight! The location is incredible: very close to Hilo but in a beautiful rainforest! Several waterfalls you can swim in, endless fascinating plants and beautiful views! Jesse and Laura’ are going to change the world!”

“I was impressed at not only the beauty of the place but the knowledge that was shared..truly priceless. I stayed for a week and had a nice routine of waking up to enjoy breakfast and coffee first thing with a half hour session of learning about the land, the soil, and how it all thrives and works with nature. We took notes, had discussions, and watched eye opening documentaries in the evenings to a home cooked meal. SO GOOD. Jesse makes very yummy food and you can look forward to dessert afterwards, I won’t spoil the surprise. I got the chance to participate in making a bench, learning how to use power tools, and painting it afterwards. We learned how to make garden beds and made one of our own. It’s all for a good cause, that’s what I loved the most. It’s an experience of a lifetime, something you’ll never forget. Just do it.”

“I stayed with Laura and Jesse for a few weeks in June 2014. It was my first wwoofing experience and I don’t think I could have asked for better people to learn from. They are such genuine people who love what they do and have an incredible platform of agricultural knowledge they love to share everyday. I learned way more than I thought I would! Laura has an awesome collection of books to dive into. Shes more than happy to share her notes from school and explain things in a way I could understand. They are very focused on the education aspect of the work/stay. They have plenty of projects to work on daily but they really cared that I was learning new things the whole time. I will never forget this experience and feel I cant thank them enough for being so patient and kind with me. As for the property they are on its absolutely gorgeous! Absolute jungle in every direction and a waterfall at the end of the property. Plenty of time to enjoy it too : ) The wwoofer tent is super awesome! I didn’t think I could be so comfortable sleeping outside but it was straight up luxurious “camping.” Super comfy bed with a mosquito net all around. You can keep all four walls closed but its so big I had two open the whole time so I could wake up every morning to the green jungle just feet from my bed. And the tent is so huge that you never have to worry about you or your belongings getting wet when it rains. And boy does it rain!! So glad I brought a pair of water resistant work boots! And of course I cant NOT mention the three beautiful and friendly dogs : ) I got to spend a lot of time with them and still miss them now. My whole time spent on this beautiful awakened piece of land with great, super caring, and smart people and the dogs was beyond enlightening for me. They helped to spread the fire and desire to continue learning and making a difference in the world, even if its a small one. I feel confident with what I learned and can’t wait to expand the knowledge base Laura and Jesse provided for me. Thank you thank you thank you and I hope to return someday!!”
